Biography
Elias Thorne’s practice is an inquiry into the liminal space between digital ephemerality and physical permanence. Since the late nineties, Thorne has consistently challenged the boundaries of minimalist sculpture, utilizing industrial materials such as cold-rolled steel, reclaimed obsidian, and focused light frequencies.
His work often demands a somatic response, forcing the viewer to navigate spatial voids that feel both ancient and futuristic. Thorne’s aesthetic is defined by a "prestige of silence," where the absence of ornamentation becomes a loud, vibrating presence within the gallery environment.
"The object is merely a ghost. The true art exists in the displacement of the air surrounding it."
